Seemed to me like you got down in the weeds there. :-) DO continue to share your epiphanies. You never know which other writers you might lift up.
You would think that the electrician could just run to town and get a connector, or back to his shop and get one. That is really shoddy. (He should have had extra parts in his truck for "problems" - just frustrating when it happens to me).
