Hi Harvey, trust all well. You may be interested, maybe not, but I listened to a BBC radio programme today based on Lee Child's influences — going back to his childhood. I thought it interesting. Anyway, towards the end of the broadcast he discusses his writing process — and yes — you guessed, he writes into the dark. Here's the link to the programme: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0022cln?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile-

All the best

Thanks, Bill. I'll run that in tomorrow's Of Interest too.

The reminder to trust the characters came at a good moment. I have a main character whose humor is raunchier than mine and I've had moments of "am I the right person to write this?". Then I write what feels like 5 minutes and when I check the word count I'll have written 800 words. I'll take that as evidence of a writer-character match, even though we're very diffent people.

Great point, Emilia. With a grin, I've told many folks who are critical ("I didn't know you talked like that!"), "Oh, no, I don't. That's hwo the character talks, not how I talk."
