Hmm... I'll give that some thought. I used to let novelists into the Bradbury Challenge, but the Stephen King Challenge kind of took the need for that away. For that one you only write at least 1000 words per day. That should fall right into your wheelhouse for writing a novel.
I remember the hot Arizona weather when I was stationed at Luke Air Force base back in the late 1970s. Every day a small group of us would run two miles at lunch and I would lose five pounds of water weight. And when I started running, I had to keep running because the heat coming through the bottom of my sneakers was almost unbearable.
My wife and I rented a small farmhouse on the back of a dairy farm and our only source of cooling was a swamp cooler. It did a great job as long as the humidity was low.
Instead of a towel when it gets too hot, maybe you could wear a speedo and say you're writing at "pulp speedo." LOL
Keep up the good stuff you do for other writers. Thank you, Harvey. :-)
Hope it cools down. Then again it's summer so don't count on it! Get that swamp cooler going. Or an ac? Whatever it takes! Just had repair guy here to fix our ac. One night without it was enough for me. Glad it wasn't a super hot day.
Interesting post by Dean. But u know I'm a big fan of the Magic Bakery. Anyway hoping we could do the same as indies. From his post it seemed possible. At some level, anyway.
And congratulations to the short story writers! I still don't want to write short stories. And someday I need to finish at least ONE of the many novels I've started. 🤣. Don't want short story also need to finish more novels right now. But, would definitely be able to commit to writing a chapter a week instead. Is there a minimum wordcount for Bradbury Challenge? Could stick with same if so, if anyone else wants to join in a Novel writers challenge. What do u think, Harvey? And, would anyone else want to do this? Could be called a Chapter a week challenge, as well. To include those writing mid length. Oh, and what about a Finishers club??? Ha. Obviously Harvey is killing that one. And all of the other short story writers
Thinking like a personal deadline setting thing maybe. For accountability. Like you post or email the anticipated finishing date and when u hit it. Or maybe not needed. But for me it sounds good. Because I start so many stories and then I get a new idea and start that one, too! 🙄

Yup. I spent 17 years of my career in Yuma. 'Course I was a lot younger then. :-)

You can do it if you want to. Follow Heinlein's Rules and you'll be golden.
