"If your goal is to become a "rapid release author," I recommend you work up to it. That's what I did without even realizing it. And it's what you're probably already doing too, although maybe also without realizing it."

I think the "working up to it" part maybe missing in the conversation. On one hand it's logical that no one's born a smith (Finnish proverb, "kukaan ei ole seppä syntyessään"), but writing is big deal for a lot of people, so the logical stuff gets forgotten.

I've only heard about rapid release in a couple of videos and posts, it's possible people are mentioning that you have to work up to it and I'm seeing people who are so excited so release stories and share all their hard work with the world, that they forget it takes work to get to a speedy level.

"The other, more selfless point behind rapid release is to give as many of your characters as possible the chance to tell their story to you and to your readers."

That's pretty much my main motivation for writing and why I'm working on getting to the computer more often and writing.

Harvey,

I'm late commenting, but this might be one of my favorite posts of yours ever. It is so inspiring. The term "artisan author" excites the heck out of me--*that's* it, that's what I've always wanted to be. And even now, no other occupation is as appealing as that. I want to take my craft as seriousy as any other artisan takes theirs. I feel like this is my childhood dream come true, and the idea that it is possible is thrilling. Plus I just love the term "artisan." It feels so official, so professional, someone who creates high-quality work.

"Rapid release" overwhelms me a bit--but I can see myself getting there once I get back to writing. Assuming I do. (Ha ha.)

I'm really encouraged by all these comments and your posts themselves. Please don't stop writing and sharing your thoughts, Harvey. You're needed in this world.
