Congratulations to all the writers in the Challenge! You took the challenge and ran with it. (As my substack readers know, so did I!)

When training for marathons, you can't just get out there one day and say, "I'm going to run a marathon!" Well, you can, but you are unlikely to succeed unless you are someone who has already been running a LOT every day beforehand. But, if you tried to run it one day, and found you made 5K or 10K or even 15K, you have learned about how much more conditioning you need to get to marathon levels. It doesn't mean you will never run a marathon, it just means you need more training.

So keep training! Increase your conditioning, do some crossfit, put some muscles, work on endurance and the next time you decide to run a marathon, you may cross the finish line. And maybe not, but you'll have your next benchmark to work on. And eventually, you will finish, and then you start getting your time down, and so on.

It's a journey, not just a destination.

I didn't meet the goals of the challenge, but I did come out of it with a process that seems to be working for me, so I thank you for providing this opportunity.
