Erin,

I read your short "Paradise" in the Blue Lake Review. I know another Blue Lake that was near the center of a huge forest fire in northern Canada back in the early 70s, which is why I went to the link and discovered your short concerned an out of control forest fire. While I've never been on the ground in such circumstances, in another life I spent thousands of hours in a helicopter as a fire pilot. I must admit that the quality of your description regarding the scary, destructive power of bush fire brought back memories long forgotten.

As Harvey said, "You’re a storyteller, a writer. So just write. Let the readers sort it out on the other end. And ignore reviews or appreciate the good ones and then move on. What readers and critics think of your work is none of your business.

"Your business is to write the best story you can at your current skill level, publish it so readers can read it, then move on to the next story."

Carry on writing and publishing!

Thank you, Erin, for your courage to do this thought run through. And thank you Harvey for unpacking the process.
